Job Description: Law and Criminal Justice Paralegal - Notary Public
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Paralegal with a Notary Public certification to join our legal team. As a Paralegal - Notary Public, you will play a crucial role in supporting our attorneys and legal professionals in various law and criminal justice matters. Your primary responsibility will be to provide legal assistance and perform notarial acts in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research and gather relevant case information to assist attorneys in preparing legal documents, including contracts, pleadings, and agreements.
- Prepare and maintain case files, ensuring accurate documentation and organization of legal documents, evidence, and exhibits.
- Assist attorneys in drafting, reviewing, and editing legal correspondence, memoranda, and other legal documents.
- Schedule and coordinate legal meetings, hearings, and depositions, ensuring all necessary arrangements are made.
- Attend and assist attorneys during court proceedings, taking notes, and preparing summaries as required.
- Perform notarial acts, including administering oaths, affirmations, acknowledgments, and affidavits, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Verify the identity and competency of individuals involved in notarial acts and maintain accurate records of notarial acts performed.
- Ensure compliance with legal procedures, ethical guidelines, and confidentiality requirements.
- Stay updated on relevant legal regulations, changes, and industry trends to assist attorneys in providing accurate and up-to-date legal advice.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies, Law, or a related field.
- Paralegal certification or equivalent work experience.
- Notary Public certification issued by the relevant state authority.
- Proven experience working as a Paralegal, with a focus on law and criminal justice.
- Strong knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, and principles within the field of law and criminal justice.
- Proficient in conducting legal research using online databases and other resources.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft accurate and clear legal documents.
- Excellent organizational skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in using legal software and computer applications, including document management systems.
